The time spent reading and listening to both Presidential contending parties' conventions is reflected as another waste of time. It's not that I expected any differences from the past but; with the rapidly changing ecology along with it's twin, the economy; how do the followers that attended both conventions in Denver and Saint Paul remain so optimistic of their own futures while chanting “change”?

Don't they realize that the change that the U.S. will need to confront involves reduction in fossil fuels. Most do not see the connection between reducing our dependence of fossil fuel and their own economy.

I believe the majority of the attendants to the conventions are employed and/or receive funds from the Federal Government. Were they forced to attend? Maybe their attendance was part of a vacation package offered by their superiors.

When the price of gasoline increased sufficiently this past summer the State and Federal financial controllers had sweat on their brows. The tax revenue collected from gasoline along with the decrease of the other tax revenues are greatly decreased because the consumers where reducing buying things due to most of their disposable incomes going to gasoline.

Proof that this economic condition is getting worse is evident today with a major U.S. insurer declaring bankruptcy. The economy is suffering today and probably will get worse no matter who wins the vote. The majority of attendees to both conventions should know that when the revenue collected from taxes is decreased the amount of revenue available to pay their salary is decreased.

At this time neither political contender has addressed the ecology. The only energy policy topic covered is to “Drill Baby Drill”, just another mass chant without any discussion of the environmental ramifications associated with more fossil fuels consumed.

Is it any wonder why the number of people not voting is increasing? It appears that both mainstream contending parties brushed the ecology topic aside and replace it with personality conflicts.

Both political parties will present soap opera scenarios to keep the masses in stitches as if they are watching soaps. As Rome burns the denizens argue which firefighter is best suited.
